Every few years, automakers take their most popular models and come out with a major update and a new generation. These new generations are highly anticipated, as they involve major changes in design, performance, and styling. However, in between these generations, many vehicles can start to become tired or dated in appearance. This is why many brands will do a mid-generation refresh. While some of these involve a little more chrome or an upgraded fabric, others, like the 2025 Chevy Suburban, involve more substantial improvements.

The Chevy Suburban is the passenger vehicle model that has been in the longest continuous production. First introduced for the 1935 model year, the Suburban has grown to be one of the largest full-size SUVs available today. So, you can imagine that keeping a vehicle that is celebrating its 90th birthday young would seem to be a major task for the folks at Chevy. However, if you are looking for a Chevy Suburban for sale, you will find that the 2025 Suburban is as youthful and powerful as many of the much younger models in its vehicle class. At Edwards Chevrolet 280, we are proud to offer drivers like you the latest and greatest version of this venerable full-size SUV. Come in today and see why there is nothing like a 2025 Chevy Suburban.

A Boost to the Already Powerful Duramax

Chevy brings back the same three engine options on the 2025 Suburban as it had from the previous model year. However, there has been a big change made that will make the Duramax turbo-diesel better than ever.

Drivers who want a Suburban will get to choose between three engines, each paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The two gas engine options are a 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 and a 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8. Each of these remains unchanged from the prior year. However, Chevy has given the 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel I-6 a major boost. The output is now 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque, a major improvement over the 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque from the 2024 model. Best of all, the Duramax engine will now be available on the Z71 trim for the first time.

The reason behind the boost is the Chevy has given the Duramax engine a re-tuned turbo compressor with new, higher-flow fuel injectors. These work to improve the efficient performance of the engine. The results can be seen in the 100-pound increase in trailering capability for the Suburban with this engine, giving you the ability to tow up to 8,100 lbs. This will come in handy if you plan to use your Suburban to tow a boat, recreational vehicle, or camper.

A Smoother Ride in Every Model

Chevy has also used the opportunity of this mid-generation refresh to improve the multilink independent rear suspension on the Suburban. This has involved a redesign to give it a more refined feel. This will improve the comfort for you and your passengers in this latest version of the Suburban.

If you want the best ride possible, you can always opt for the available Air Ride Adaptive Suspension and Magnetic Ride Control on this model. The Air Ride Adaptive Suspension automatically lowers the vehicle for highway driving to reduce drag, improving the aerodynamic performance of the Suburban. You can then use driver-selectable height adjustments when doing city driving or if you want to take your Suburban off-road. Meanwhile, the Magnetic Ride Control will work to adjust the damping rate of the Suburban’s shock absorbers, reducing road vibrations automatically. The Air Ride Adaptive Suspension will now be available on the RST for the first time, as well as the Z71 and High Country. The Magnetic Ride Control is standard on the Premier and High Country trims, while it is an available feature on the Z71 and RST.

A Larger Standard Infotainment Screen

One thing that most drivers seem to love is technology. The full-size SUVs of today have blown past the days when an AM/FM radio was sufficient. This is certainly the case with the 2025 Chevy Suburban. Each model comes with a Chevrolet Infotainment system on a massive 17.7-inch diagonal freeform infotainment touchscreen. This is a major upgrade over the previous models that offered a standard 8-inch screen with an available 10.2-inch screen that came standard on many of the higher trims.

The larger screen will be easier to use, allowing you to access the various apps on the system. You will also be able to connect your phones using wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. So, you can stream your favorite music and navigation apps while making hands-free calls and texts, even if you have left your charging cables at home.

Chevy has paired the 17.7-inch infotainment screen with an 11-inch diagonal driver information center. This will provide you with crucial information about the performance of your Suburban. Each screen has a slight cant toward the driver seat, making it easy to see without having to take your eyes off the road.

Enhanced Driver Assistance and Safety Features

Like so many other models in the Chevy lineup, the Suburban comes with standard Chevy Safety Assist technologies, like Forward Collision Alert, which lets you know of an imminent front-end collision so you can take evasive action, and IntelliBeam, which controls your vehicle’s high beam headlights at night. The 2025 Suburban goes beyond this by adding a number of additional standard safety features.

Interior Motion Detection is ideal for families who choose a Suburban. This feature is designed to detect micro-movements inside the passenger cabin, letting you know if a child or pet has been accidentally left behind. If the vehicle is in park and shut off, the feature will increase the volume of sound alerts if it detects motion, letting you know you may have left someone important behind.

Chevy also offers a new Connected Camera system. This increases the number of connected cameras to your Suburban, with a 360-degree view of the vehicle. It also has dash cam functionality, with video stored on the cloud. In addition to giving you more views around your Suburban, it can also provide you with video evidence if you are involved in a collision. This can help you with any insurance claims you may have in the unlikely event you are involved in an accident.

Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist will help you get your Suburban into and out of parallel parking spaces. One of the reasons why some drivers have trepidations about driving a full-size SUV like the Suburban is concerns about maneuverability. They think they will not be able to safely park a vehicle of this size. The Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist will help with this by doing the hard work for you. When it is engaged, it will automatically steer, brake, and shift gears to park your Suburban into a parallel parking spot.

Chevy has also added a standard HD Surround Vision camera to the 2025 Suburban. This improves the visibility behind your vehicle, giving you greater confidence when you have to drive in reverse. The 17.7-inch touchscreen on the Suburban also helps, as this will make objects behind your vehicle easier to see than the smaller touchscreen offered on prior models.

If you have a young driver in your family, then you are going to love the standard Teen Driver feature on your Suburban. This makes it impossible for the young driver to disable certain safety features on the Suburban while also allowing you to limit the volume on the vehicle’s audio system. Best of all, Teen Driver acts as a chaperone while you are not inside the car with your young driver. When he or she has finished driving, you can check an onscreen after-action report from the feature, letting you know if they drove safely and obeyed all of the traffic regulations, including maintaining a safe speed. With the standard Buckle to Drive feature, you will get greater confidence in your young driver. This will not allow a driver to put the Suburban into gear unless all of the front-row passengers have buckled up.

Chevy has also increased the number of trim levels that can opt for the Super Cruise feature. Super Cruise is a hands-free driving assistance technology that works on over 400,000 miles of specially mapped roads in the US and Canada. When a driver enters one of these roads with the Super Cruise feature engaged, the system will take over the speed, steering, and braking of the vehicle. As a result, you can reduce driver fatigue while ensuring the safety of an autonomous driving vehicle. The only requirement is that you have to remain in the driver’s seat with your attention directed to the road. This is a great option for commuters, daily drivers, and road trippers who can take advantage of the Super Cruise roads, making driving their Suburbans more enjoyable.

The 2025 Suburban Is More Than a Simple Refresh

While most models that undergo a mid-generation refresh see simple cosmetic refinements, the 2025 Chevy Suburban goes beyond this. With improved performance, suspension, safety, and entertainment technology, the 2025 Suburban is a major improvement over an already impressive full-size SUV. Come in today and see why your next SUV should be a 2025 Chevy Suburban!
