Thinking about checking out the 2026 Chevy Colorado? This midsize pickup brings the reliable nature you can count on from any Chevy truck to a frame that’s easy to drive and park. We’re so excited to bring it to our customers who want a work-ready model that is great for daily commutes, too.

We love recommending the Colorado to DIYers, contractors, or even just busy parents who appreciate the room for extra cargo like groceries and sports gear in the bed.

For 2026, Chevy has brought back the Colorado with tons of thoughtful perks, ready for work days and recreation. It has impressive technology that will streamline your days, advanced safety features to help you command the roads, and powerful performance that won’t disappoint.

We are always committed to ensuring our customers understand their choices. And since Chevy makes a large selection of trucks, ranging from the midsize Colorado through the heavy-duty Silverados, we know how important it is to get to know the Colorado’s personality.

Today, we’re going over the highlights in the areas of performance, safety, utility, and convenience.

Impressive Performance in a Smaller Size

The 2026 Colorado might surprise you with its performance. For a midsize truck, it delivers full-size benefits. In fact, it can tow up to 7,700 lbs. So if you need to tow a boat out to the water or a camper out to the woods, we know that the Colorado can handle many moderately sized vessels. The eight-speed automatic transmission lets you take the small, measured steps you need to maximize power and efficiency in different situations.

Under the hood of the Colorado, you’re going to get a 2.7L TurboMax engine. This is standard across the trims. It’s a highly responsive engine that delivers diesel-like torque, without the hefty pricetag of a diesel engine. Its best-in-class standard torque of 430 lb.ft. means you’ll get the acceleration you need and the capability for towing or facing challenging terrain. The 310 hp is good for that, too.

Across the Colorado’s trims, you’ll have access to a total of five available drive modes. Off-road mode is going to get you excellent traction on loose terrain, like gravel, mud, grass, and snow. It’s good not just for remote wilderness, but also for any unpaved area like country roads and job sites.

Terrain mode is, in fact, for remote terrain. It’s designed to help with crawling over obstacles and tackling steep inclines. It can even automatically apply the brakes for improved climbing. If you spring for the ZR2 trim, the top-end off-road model, you’ll access Baja mode. Like its name promises, it gets you improved power and traction on sand. So go ahead and explore the desert. The sand won’t slow you down.

Tow/haul mode will optimize vehicle dynamics when you have a trailer behind you, making it perfect for recreation and work. Normal mode balances efficiency and performance for regular driving. Activate it when it’s time to take the kids to school or head out of town for a road trip.

Safety Is Key

The 2026 Colorado has the driver assist features you need to feel confident wherever you go—from familiar but busy areas to new destinations. Chevy Safety Assist comes standard, and that gets you perks like a Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking that can alert you to and even help you avoid forward-facing collisions. The front pedestrian braking can even help you stop in time to miss colliding with someone on foot.

Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning can read lane markers, notifying you if you’re drifting. It can even apply gentle steering support to keep you centered, which comes in handy after long days on the road.

IntelliBeam auto high beams activate in low-light settings, increasing visibility. They turn off when they sense oncoming traffic, so as not to blind other drivers. With features like this, peace of mind comes standard.

Cargo Bed Utility

The Colorado might be a solid daily driver, but it is, at its core, a work-ready truck. As such, Chevy designed it with utility perks made for those who wear work boots and operate power tools.

An available EZ Lift and Lower tailgate at the rear utilizes an internal torsion bar that reduces effort when lifting the tailgate, and has a damper to reduce damage when lowering it. If you do a lot of work in the back of your pickup, you probably tire of the slamming action of opening it and how difficult it can be to close it. This tailgate eases both of those struggles.

You’ll also find the built-in StowFlex storage, a lockable and weather-proof storage compartment. You can stash valuables here that are vulnerable to the elements (or theft). Plus, it has a drain, so you can load it up with ice and drinks for tailgates and camping. Simply open the drain plug to let out the liquid when the party’s over.

You can have up to 17 tie-downs in the bed, creating tons of ways to secure your belongings. Whether you need to keep dirt bikes or tool boxes in place, these tie-downs give you several points to attach ropes and wires to keep everything from flying out on bumpy roads.

Need to transport longer items? The 2026 Colorado’s mid-position tailgate can help with that. It allows you to set the tailgate at the halfway point, keeping longer things in place. It supports up to 500 pounds, so go ahead and put lumber or a major piece of furniture back there. It can handle it.

There’s an available 120-volt outlet, too, ensuring you can plug in everything from power tools to air pumps at job sites and campsites. So go ahead and bring a mini fridge to the campsite, or a set of speakers to the tailgate. Plug in a coffee machine for your crew at the job site while you’re at it, or a slow cooker for a hot meal.

The available cargo bed lighting ensures you can clearly see what you’re handling in your bed. Plus, a built-in measuring tool comes in handy when you forget your measuring tape and need to get the dimensions on materials at the job site.

Technology That Keeps You Moving

The 2026 Colorado’s cabin is loaded with technology that makes to-do lists easier to tackle, job sites easier to find, and commutes more enjoyable.

Let’s start with the 11.3-inch diagonal touchscreen, your command center. You’ll sync your smartphone up to this, and control your apps like your navigation, traffic, and music apps here. It makes it much easier to see directions and other data than staring at your phone’s small screen does (and it’s much safer).

The touchscreen is complemented by an 11-inch diagonal information center, where you can see vehicle and journey stats. See your activated safety features, fuel gauge, speedometer, and more here.

Google built-in allows you to use your favorite Google Apps, right in your vehicle. Google Maps can guide your way, and provide its popular features like new route suggestions and coffee shops along your way. Google Play lets you listen to your music, podcasts, and audiobooks behind the wheel, picking up where you left off on your phone. Google Assistant answers your burning questions, like when does the summer solstice start, and is that new movie out yet.

Can’t stand getting in a cold or hot cab? Remote start can help. It allows you to turn on your climate control before getting in the truck. So fire up that AC or heater during extreme weather, and get in a perfectly temperate truck.
