Chevrolet has one of the most comprehensive lineups of SUVs on the market, meaning that you can find one in any size or configuration. The smallest are subcompact SUVs. Others are full-size, which can get as big as heavy-duty pickup trucks. Chevy also makes SUVs with two rows of seats or three. More rows of seats means you can carry more passengers. All of this matters because it means that Chevy doesn’t take a “one size fits all approach” to their SUVs.

1) The Trax

The Chevy Trax is the smallest of the seven Chevy SUV models. This cute and sporty subcompact SUV is a great way to get around whether you are looking for an economical commuter vehicle or a vehicle to get you around town. Drivers first started making tracks to get behind the wheel of a Trax in 2015, when it was introduced as the smallest member of the Chevy SUV family. A decade later, it's still the smallest. The 2024 model represents the second generation of the Trax, so any model you find used will be part of the first generation.

The Trax has two rows of seats and can seat up to five people. The most recent model is a little roomier, with 25.6 cu.ft. of cargo space behind the second row of seats, an increase over the 18.7 cu.ft. in older models. If you fold down the back seat of the 2024 Trax, you will get up to 54.1 cu.ft. of space. The first-generation model allows you to fold down the rear seats, freeing up a total of 48.4 cu.ft. for transporting your belongings.

2) The Trailblazer

The newest member of the Chevy SUV lineup is the Trailblazer. This subcompact SUV is slightly larger than the Trax, so it is a good choice for drivers who need a little more passenger and cargo space. The Trailblazer was introduced in 2021, and Chevy gave a unique look. It has a rugged design with solid ground clearance. Higher trims feature a white roof to contrast with your choice of body color.

The current Trailblazer should not be confused with the previous model that Chevy produced under that name from 2002 to 2009—a midsize SUV that was replaced by the Traverse. Like the Trax, the modern Trailblazer has two rows of seats for up to five passengers. However, its larger size gives it slightly more cargo space. The Trailblazer can fit up to 25.3 cu.ft. of cargo space behind its rear seats, which can be expanded to 54.4 cu.ft. by folding down the back seats.

3) The Equinox

Compact SUVs are also known as crossovers, and they are one of the most popular sizes. This is because they combine a roomy passenger compartment with significant cargo space in a very drivable design. The Chevy Equinox entered this market in 2005 and is currently in its third generation, which started with the 2018 model year. This two-row crossover gives you plenty of room for up to five passengers, which makes it an excellent choice for a family with young kids or for retirees who want a safe vehicle for when the grandkids stay over.

Chevy has given the sporty Equinox an impressive amount of cargo space. When you open the liftgate, you will be greeted by 29.9 cu.ft. of space. Simply fold down the rear seats, and you will get 63.9 cu.ft. that can be used to transport any number of large objects.

4) The Blazer

For drivers who like a roomier vehicle, Chevy offers the Blazer, a midsize SUV. This two-row model gives you a great amount of space for up to five passengers to stretch out in. The Blazer is one of the most familiar names in the Chevy lineup, having been used on a number of different SUVs from 1969 to 2012. After a short break, Chevy brought the Blazer back in a very sleek and sporty style. In many ways, it looks like a larger version of the Equinox.

In keeping with the other Chevy SUV models, choosing a used Blazer gives you more cargo space than the slightly smaller Equinox. A pre-owned Blazer provides up to 30.5 cu.ft. of space behind the passenger compartment. If you need more space, you can fold down the backseat and open up 64.2 cu.ft. of space.

5) The Traverse

Sometimes, two rows of seats just aren’t enough. If you have an unwieldy number of children, you might want to consider a model with three rows of seats. The Traverse is a midsize SUV that gives you that third row so that you can fit up to eight passengers depending on the configuration of the second seating row. If you choose a Traverse with a bench seat, you will have room for up to eight passengers, while getting one with captain’s chairs in the second row will reduce the maximum seating capacity to seven.

The Traverse first hit the road in 2009 and was designed to replace the Trailblazer. Since then, this model has had two additional generations, in 2018 and 2024. Each has altered the looks of the Traverse, giving it a more rugged appearance similar to the larger Chevy Tahoe. If you find a second-generation Traverse, you will get a configurable rear storage space that can hold a maximum of 98.2 cu.ft. of cargo with both the second and third rows of seats folded down. As it is, there are 23 cu.ft. of space behind the third row of seats, which is quite substantial for a three-row midsize SUV. There is 57.8 cu.ft. of space with just the second row of seats folded down.

6) The Tahoe

One of two full-size SUV models produced by Chevy, the Tahoe also features three rows of seats. This allows you to seat up to nine passengers, depending on whether you choose a second-row bench seat or captain’s chairs. The Tahoe was introduced by Chevy in 1995 with a choice of two-door and four-door models. Each sat up to six passengers. This changed over the years, with a third row initially being offered as an option before it became standard on all Tahoe models. The most recent generation appeared in 2021, following a six-year run for the fourth-generation Chevy Tahoe.

If you are looking for cargo space, the fifth-generation Tahoe might be one to consider. With this generation in 2021, Chevy substantially upgraded cargo space. Where the older model had 15.3 cu.ft. of space in the back, the fifth generation model offers 25.5 cu.ft.—almost double the old amount. In addition, the newer model gives you up to 122.9 cu.ft. for cargo behind the driver, significantly more than the 94.7 cu.ft. in the fourth-generation Tahoe model.

7) The Suburban

The Suburban has been in continuous production since 1935—longer than almost any other Chevy vehicle. It is the original sport utility vehicle, and it offers the most cargo space of any Chevy SUV. The Suburban has three rows of seats for up to nine passengers. This is the SUV to get if you need maximum passenger and cargo space.

Like the Tahoe, the Suburban got an increase in size with the 2021 model year. The Suburban is the model with the space you need; it has the most available cargo room, both with the seats up and the seats folded down. The 2024 Suburban has 41.5 cu.ft. of cargo space in the back. This is more than most other SUVs offer with the seats folded down. This was an increase over the 2020 model, which still offered an impressive 39.3 cu.ft. of space. If you fold the second and third-row seats down, you will get 144.7 cu.ft. of space—substantially more than the 121.7 cu.ft. of space in the older model. This means that the Suburban is the model to choose if you need to move things. Or people. Or people's things. Seriously, the Suburban can double as a cargo van simply by folding down the rear two rows of seats.
